Fahmi Fires Back At KJ: Anwar, Mat Sabu, Dzulkefly Aren’t Malay-Muslims?

Date:

Pakatan Harapan (PH) communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has accused former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin of raising issues related to the Malay and Muslim community in an attempt to rebuild his political relevance following his return to UMNO.

Speaking to reporters after the Program Ziarah Kasih in Felda Palong 2 on Monday, Fahmi said Khairy had been away from UMNO for some time and was now seeking to re-establish his political standing.

“He has been out of UMNO for quite a while and is trying to rebuild his political foundation,” Fahmi said.

“So he will make whatever statements he feels are necessary to ensure people continue to notice him.”

Fahmi was responding to Khairy’s earlier remarks that Barisan Nasional’s decision to work with Perikatan Nasional in the Negeri Sembilan state election should serve as a signal to PH.

Khairy had claimed that some party members felt the Federal Government was not sufficiently sensitive to Malay concerns and had failed to fulfil several of its previous promises.

Rejecting claims that PH lacked leaders who champion the interests of the Malay-Muslim community, Fahmi said such accusations were baseless.

He pointed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Mohamad Sabu, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun as examples of Malay-Muslim leaders within PH.

“I think it’s time to stop spreading this false narrative. As Muslims, we should remember that if we speak falsely, we will be held accountable in the hereafter,” he said.
