‘If You Want To Quit, Just Quit’: UMNO Youth Chief Fires At Allies

Date:

UMNO Youth chief Datuk Mohamad Akmal said that the wing has clearly stated its demand for UMNO to withdraw from the unity government and instead take on the role of the opposition with dignity, stressing that it is not calling for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to raise the matter in Cabinet discussions.

In a Facebook post today, he said UMNO Youth understands that whether UMNO chooses to remain in the government or withdraw from it is a decision to be made by the party itself, not the government. He emphasised that decisions regarding a party’s position should be determined internally.

Mohamad Akmal also questioned the Melaka Amanah Party and Melaka DAP, asking why they needed to wait for the Chief Minister to bring the issue to the state executive council meeting if they truly had the courage to withdraw.

“If they genuinely intend to leave, then they should just withdraw directly without waiting for a decision from the state executive council,” he said.

He added that even if both parties were no longer part of the state government, it would continue to function smoothly and would not be affected.
