MCA Makes Comeback To Negeri Sembilan Assembly After Years Away

Date:

MCA has made a return to the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly after winning two seats in the 16th state election.

The party secured the Chennah and Repah state seats, contributing to Barisan Nasional’s (BN) overall victory of 18 seats in the state polls.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong thanked Negeri Sembilan voters for giving BN the mandate to form the new state government.

He also congratulated Siow Kong Choon and Koh Kim Swee for their victories in Chennah and Repah respectively.

Siow recorded a surprise win by defeating incumbent Chennah assemblyman and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, while Koh successfully captured the Repah seat.

Wee urged the two elected representatives to bring the people’s voices to the state assembly and serve Negeri Sembilan residents with dedication.

He also encouraged MCA and BN candidates who were unsuccessful in the election to continue serving the public, stressing that commitment to the people should not depend solely on holding political positions.

Meanwhile, Wee expressed appreciation to the BN election machinery, the Election Commission (EC), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), volunteers and all parties involved in ensuring the election process ran smoothly.

In the previous state election, Loke won the Chennah seat with a majority of 2,200 votes, making the constituency one of the key seats contested in the latest Negeri Sembilan polls.
