A total of 1,130,980 voters, representing 42.16 per cent of the more than 2.6 million eligible voters, had cast their ballots in the 16th Johor state election as of 1pm today.
According to the Election Commission (EC), the Semarang and Sedili state constituencies recorded the highest voter turnout at 50.5 per cent each, followed by Tanjung Surat with 48.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, Penggaram registered the lowest turnout at 32.2 per cent, followed by Bentayan with 32.6 per cent and Simpang Jeram at 35.2 per cent.
The latest figures indicate a stronger voter response compared to the previous Johor state election. As of the same time during the 2022 polls, voter turnout stood at 34.51 per cent, with 888,605 ballots cast from more than 2.5 million registered voters.
Polling has continued steadily across all 56 state constituencies, with authorities encouraging eligible voters to head to polling centres before voting closes later today. Despite weather conditions in several areas, many voters continued to fulfil their civic responsibility.
The Election Commission is expected to continue releasing periodic updates on voter turnout throughout the day as the state election progresses.
