MUDA Johor has questioned the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto, claiming it fails to address key issues such as flooding, climate change and environmental concerns affecting the state.
MUDA candidate for the Puteri Wangsa state seat, Rashifa Aljunied, said the absence of flood-related policies in the manifesto reflects a lack of understanding of the pressing challenges faced by Johor residents.
She said repeated flooding incidents have caused significant losses to the community and should be treated as a priority in any state policy framework.
“If the writers of the PH manifesto truly understood the voices of Johor residents, they would recognise that increasingly frequent floods have caused major hardship to the people,” she said in a statement on Sunday.
Rashifa also pointed out that there was no mention of flooding, climate change or environmental issues in the coalition’s manifesto, which she described as a serious omission.
She added that flood situations in Puteri Wangsa require continuous attention, as incidents can occur not only during the monsoon season but also during heavy rain and high tide conditions.
According to her, more than 8,000 flood victims have been assisted in the area, while flood hotspot locations in Johor have reportedly increased from around 745 to 874.
She also noted that the incumbent Puteri Wangsa assemblywoman, Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz, who sits on the Johor state committee for climate change and disaster management, has consistently raised flood mitigation efforts at policy level.
Rashifa concluded that the omission of climate and flood-related measures in the manifesto suggests PH is not fully aligned with local needs and raises questions about its readiness to govern the state effectively.
