PAS Confident Of Winning All Five Negeri Sembilan Seats

Date:

PAS is confident of securing victories in all five state seats it is contesting in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election, based on the strength of its candidates and potential support from Barisan Nasional (BN) voters.

PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the party believes the cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) could help strengthen its chances, especially through additional support from BN supporters.

He said three of the seats contested by PAS, namely Serting, Paroi and Bagan Pinang, were areas previously won by the party, while Lobak and Ampangan are new targets for the upcoming election.

“Looking at the five seats contested by PAS, all of them have the potential to be won,” he said when met after delivering a Friday lecture at Medan Ilmu on Friday.

Mohd Amar said PAS remained confident despite some of the contested seats currently being held by Pakatan Harapan (PH), adding that support from voters who understand the PN-BN cooperation could influence the outcome.

He said even a small shift in support from BN voters could strengthen PAS’ chances of winning the targeted seats.

“Imagine if there are 3,000 UMNO supporters who vote for us, that would already become an additional strength for PAS,” he said.

On Thursday, PN announced that it would contest 11 state seats in the Negeri Sembilan election, with PAS allocated five seats, Parti Wawasan Rakyat four seats, while Gerakan and Malaysian Indian People’s Party (MIPP) each receiving one seat.

The Negeri Sembilan state election will take place on Aug 1, involving contests across 36 state seats.
