Police will record the statement of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor in connection with alleged remarks involving racial issues made during a political rally in Jempol recently.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the matter was still under investigation, with police making arrangements to obtain a statement from the PAS leader.
He said officers would be sent to Kedah to record Sanusi’s statement as the menteri besar is currently based there.
“We are trying to obtain a statement from the menteri besar himself. Since he is in Kedah, we are making the necessary arrangements to send officers there to record his statement,” he told reporters after visiting a polling centre at SMK King George V.
Mohd Khalid said further investigation and evidence from relevant parties were needed to ensure the case could be completed before being referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
Previously, Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that a report had been received regarding a speech delivered by the Jeneri assemblyman.
He said police had recorded statements from several witnesses and were also seeking assistance from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) as part of the investigation involving the PAS leader.
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue gathering information and evidence related to the matter.
