US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he has directed federal agencies to begin identifying and releasing government files related to UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he would instruct the Secretary of War and other relevant departments and agencies to initiate the process of reviewing and disclosing records concerning alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
The move follows long-standing calls from sections of the American public seeking greater transparency on government-held information relating to unexplained aerial sightings and alleged encounters.
Trump did not clarify whether classified documents would be made fully available to the public. However, he indicated that the release should cover “any and all other information” connected to what he described as complex but significant matters.
The announcement has the potential to reignite debate over the extent of government knowledge on unexplained phenomena and the balance between national security and public disclosure.
