Machang Member of Parliament Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has alleged that Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) failure to form the government after the 15th General Election was due to the ego and stubbornness of a single individual.
The former Bersatu Armada chief claimed the matter was revealed by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who allegedly disclosed details of post-election discussions.
“After the attempt to form the government failed, the palace was willing to accept another PN nominee, and PAS was also prepared to propose an alternative candidate. Even Bersatu MPs were ready,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
“However, one person insisted: only I am worthy and qualified,” he added.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal further claimed that ego, pride and self-interest were the main factors behind internal tensions within PN at the time.
Although he did not name any individual, he described such traits as a “hidden fire” that could damage organisations from within.
“Alhamdulillah, that cancer has been treated. We have removed the cancer cells from the body of PN,” he said.
Previously, he had also claimed that PN’s internal conflict, particularly involving Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, risked weakening Bersatu and the coalition.
He said unresolved leadership disputes and rigid positions could have serious consequences for party unity and long-term stability.
