A gardener was brought before the Magistrate’s Court here today and charged with the murder of a man in an incident that took place last week in Perak Tengah.
The accused, Mohammad Farizzal Fazly Mohd Zulkifly, 30, is alleged to have caused the death of Muhammad Fahmi Abdullah, 29, in an incident along Jalan Trans Perak between 4.30am and 5.49am on June 10, 2026.
He nodded in understanding after the charge was read out by the court interpreter before Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan, but no plea was recorded.
The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The prosecution was conducted by Inspector Jagdeep Singh Jaswant Singh, while the accused was not represented by counsel.
The court fixed July 20 for mention pending document submission and the post-mortem report.
In a related development, the accused is also expected to be charged at the Ipoh Sessions Court today for attempted rape involving his former girlfriend in Seberang Perak, Kampung Gajah.
It was previously reported that the victim died after being stabbed in a fight believed to have stemmed from jealousy, while the suspect was arrested while attempting to flee at the Perlis Sentral Bus Terminal in Kangar.
