Unauthorised drone activity caused major disruptions at Vietnam’s Danang International Airport over the Lunar New Year holiday, state media reported.
According to Thanh Nien, two separate drone incursions last week forced multiple flights into holding patterns and caused significant delays. Airport authorities confirmed that 54 flights were affected, though details on the operators and the exact proximity of the drones to aircraft remain unclear.
Danang airport, the main aviation hub for central Vietnam, typically manages over 300 flights daily during peak periods such as Tet. Authorities have yet to comment on the incidents, while national regulations strictly ban private drones and high-intensity lighting near airport zones.
