A Malaysian influencer known as Junee has come under scrutiny online after sharing photos of her visit to a historic Buddhist temple in Henan, China.
The images were taken at the White Horse Temple, widely regarded as one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the country and traditionally recognised as China’s first Buddhist temple.

According to reports by Chinese media, the temple enforces strict dress guidelines for visitors, particularly in respect of its religious and cultural significance.
Following the influencer’s post, some netizens criticised her choice of attire, questioning whether it was appropriate for the setting. Others also pointed out that the incense sticks seen in the photos appeared not to be lit.
The backlash quickly gained traction on social media, with users debating etiquette and respect when visiting places of worship abroad.
In the wake of the criticism, Junee has since deactivated her social media accounts.
The incident has reignited conversations online about cultural sensitivity and the importance of observing local customs, especially when visiting religious sites.
