The Democratic Action Party (DAP) has instructed all its party machinery to be fully prepared for the possibility of snap elections in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.
DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke said the directive was issued in anticipation that the respective State Legislative Assemblies (DUN) could be dissolved in the near future.
He said the decision was made during the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) monthly meeting held at the DAP headquarters on Monday night. The meeting reportedly discussed the latest political developments in Negeri Sembilan, which the party described as a “political crisis.”
Among the key resolutions reached, the party leadership agreed to mobilise its entire grassroots and election machinery in preparation for any unexpected electoral exercises across the three states.
DAP also reaffirmed its position that it does not support any move to replace the current Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, stating that attempts to topple the existing unity government have already failed.
Loke reiterated that the party continues to fully support Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun as Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan. He added that DAP respects the constitutional monarchy and stressed that matters involving royal institutions and state customs must be handled with proper respect and in accordance with the law.
He further conveyed DAP’s appreciation to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, for His Royal Highness’s guidance that the state government should continue functioning under Aminuddin’s administration.
