Date:

Police are conducting a thorough investigation after the body of a man was found in a semi-nude state along Kilometre 198.5 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), northbound, early this morning.

Alor Gajah District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar said authorities received a report at about 6.30am regarding a man lying in the emergency lane of the highway.

He said police rushed to the scene, where medical personnel confirmed that the man, believed to be a pedestrian, had already died at the location.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim is believed to be a local man in his 40s whose identity has yet to be confirmed.

The body was found partially clothed and had sustained severe head injuries, according to initial police observations at the scene.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the victim may have been struck by a vehicle that has yet to be identified.

However, the exact cause of death remains under investigation, and the body has been sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Authorities have urged witnesses or motorists who may have dashcam footage from between 5.30am and 6.30am in the area to come forward to assist investigations.

Members of the public can contact the investigating officer or the Alor Gajah Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division for further information.
