Sabah Immigration authorities have detained a total of 54 foreign nationals in coordinated enforcement operations conducted in Sipitang and Semporna as part of ongoing efforts to curb undocumented migration in the state.
The operations, known as Op Sapu and Op Kutip, were carried out in targeted crackdowns involving inspections at various locations believed to be hotspots for immigration offences.
In Sipitang, enforcement officers screened 68 individuals, resulting in the arrest of 50 people suspected of violating provisions under the Immigration Act 1959/63. Offences under investigation include the absence of valid travel documents and breaches of permitted pass conditions.
Of those detained in Sipitang, 48 were Filipino nationals consisting of 14 men, 12 women, 10 boys and 12 girls, while two Pakistani men were also apprehended during the same operation.
In a separate operation in Semporna, four Pakistani men were arrested after authorities inspected six individuals during simultaneous enforcement actions under Op Sapu and Op Kutip.
The Immigration Department said it will continue to strengthen enforcement efforts to address illegal entry and residence, while ensuring strict compliance with Malaysia’s immigration laws.
