SUV Driver Arrested After Fatal Crash Kills Two Sisters In Klang

The driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) believed to be involved in a fatal crash that killed two sisters in Bandar Baru Klang has been arrested by police.

North Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner S Vijaya Rao said the 75-year-old local man was detained at around 11.40am on Friday to assist in investigations.

He said checks revealed that the suspect had no prior criminal or drug-related records.

“The man, who was also the driver of the SUV involved, will be remanded for further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to contact investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Fadzli Abdullah at 017-5843860 or visit the nearest police station.

It was previously reported that a dinner outing turned tragic when two sisters were struck by an SUV while walking along Jalan Pekan Baru, Bandar Baru Klang on Thursday.

In the incident, which occurred at around 7.40pm, the two local women aged 57 and 62 were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old boy, who is the son of one of the victims, also suffered injuries in the crash.
