Police Searching For Motorcyclist Who Smashed Car Windscreen In Ipoh

Date:

Police are tracking down a man who allegedly smashed the windscreen of a car with a motorcycle helmet during a road rage incident along Jalan Raja Ashman Shah in Ipoh on Thursday.

Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said a report was lodged by the victim at about 1.26am following the incident.

Initial investigations found that the dispute began after the driver sounded the horn at a motorcyclist who was riding erratically and nearly entered the victim’s lane.

The situation then escalated, with the suspect allegedly using a helmet to smash the front windscreen of the victim’s vehicle, causing an estimated RM1,500 in damages.

Police have opened an investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

Authorities are currently working to identify and locate the suspect, who is believed to be in his 30s and was reportedly riding a blue Honda Dash motorcycle.

Muhammad Najib said dashcam footage obtained by investigators is being analysed to assist the probe. However, the motorcycle’s registration number could not be clearly identified from the recording.

Members of the public who have information regarding the incident or the identity of the suspect are urged to contact the Ipoh District Police Headquarters hotline at 05-2451500 or visit the nearest police station to assist with investigations.
