Police To Facilitate ‘Himpunan Gegar TikTok’ Gathering Outside TikTok Headquarters

Date:

Police have been notified of the upcoming “Himpunan Gegar TikTok” gathering scheduled to take place on Saturday outside TikTok’s headquarters at Sunway Velocity.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Fadil Marsus said authorities have already engaged with the organisers and will facilitate the assembly while ensuring public order and safety are maintained throughout the event.

“We received information through media reports and proposals submitted regarding the gathering. We will assist in facilitating the event,” he told reporters on Friday.

“If the gathering proceeds as planned, the safety of all parties will remain our priority. However, should there be any acts of violence or violations of the law, police will take the firmest possible action,” he added.

Fadil was speaking after launching the Kuala Lumpur Police Traffic Awareness Advocacy Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Alam Damai in Cheras.

The gathering was announced by businessman Albert Tei, who called on members of the public, particularly TikTok users, to participate in the event.

In a Facebook post, Tei said the assembly would begin at 10am and would be conducted peacefully outside TikTok’s headquarters.

According to him, the gathering aims to urge social media platforms, especially TikTok, not to impose restrictions that participants believe could limit user expression.

He said the event is also intended to defend Malaysians’ right to freedom of speech as guaranteed under the Federal Constitution.

The planned gathering has generated discussion online, with supporters describing it as a platform to voice concerns over content moderation and platform restrictions.

Police have reminded participants to comply with all laws and cooperate with authorities to ensure the event proceeds smoothly and safely.

Further details regarding traffic management and security arrangements are expected to be announced ahead of the gathering.
