A civil servant and his two-year-old daughter were injured after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with another vehicle at a traffic light junction along Jalan Reko, Kajang, earlier today.
Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, said police received information regarding the incident at about 7.45am.
Preliminary investigations found that the crash involved two cars, with one vehicle travelling from Kajang towards Jalan Reko while the other was reportedly turning into the MRT Jalan Reko junction from the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, the 36-year-old civil servant suffered injuries to his head and hands, while his two-year-old daughter also sustained injuries to her head and hands.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 50-year-old businessman, sustained minor injuries in the incident.
All three victims were taken to Kajang Hospital for further treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving, which carries a penalty of up to 12 months’ imprisonment and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM10,000 upon conviction.
Police have urged witnesses or members of the public with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Saifudin Saadun to assist in the investigation.
Naazron also reminded road users to drive carefully, obey traffic regulations and remain vigilant at all times to prevent similar incidents.
