JPJ Seizes Four Vehicles In Major Roadblock Operation In Sarawak

Date:

The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) impounded four vehicles, including two cars and two motorcycles, during an enforcement operation conducted along Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub here on Friday night.

According to JPJ Sarawak, the enforcement action was taken after inspections on a total of 844 vehicles, where multiple traffic offences were detected.

The department said two cars and one motorcycle were seized for having expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and road tax, while another motorcycle was impounded after its foreign rider was found to be driving without a valid licence.

Authorities also uncovered other offences during the operation, including motorists driving without valid licences or with expired permits, as well as technical violations involving vehicle modifications.

JPJ Sarawak also highlighted the use of non-compliant high-intensity discharge (HID) and light-emitting diode (LED) headlights, stressing that such modifications pose safety risks by potentially blinding other road users.

The department said it takes the misuse of improper lighting systems seriously as it increases the likelihood of road accidents, and enforcement will continue to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
