Home Ministry Allocates Over RM429 Million To Boost Enforcement Welfare In Johor

Date:

The Home Ministry has channelled more than RM429 million since 2023 to strengthen the welfare of enforcement personnel and upgrade operational infrastructure across Johor.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the funding involves three key agencies — the Royal Malaysia Police, the Immigration Department and the Prisons Department — as part of ongoing efforts to improve service efficiency and working conditions.

He said better facilities and improved living conditions for enforcement officers are essential in ensuring more effective service delivery, while also contributing to a safer environment for the public.

Saifuddin added that when personnel are provided with conducive workplaces, proper accommodation and modern facilities, it directly enhances their ability to carry out enforcement duties more efficiently and securely.

He said the government remains committed to ensuring that every ringgit allocated is used effectively, both to safeguard personnel welfare and to strengthen security in Johor.

Of the total allocation, RM174.8 million has been used for completed or ongoing projects, while RM255 million has been earmarked for future developments still in the planning stage.

Among projects currently underway are land acquisition for the Pengerang District Police Headquarters, procurement of office space and quarters for the Johor Bahru Immigration Department, and upgrades to facilities at Kluang Prison.

Meanwhile, planned developments include the construction of the Segamat District Police Headquarters, improvements to the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex bus terminal in Johor Bahru, as well as upgrades to kitchen facilities at Kluang Prison and water supply systems at Simpang Renggam Prison.

Saifuddin said the initiatives reflect the MADANI government’s commitment to balanced development across states, aligned with local priorities and public welfare needs.

He also noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously informed Parliament that Johor’s development and management allocation had risen significantly to approximately RM14.6 billion, compared to RM10.2 billion previously.
