A 30-year-old Bangladeshi worker was killed after suffering severe burns in a boiler fire at a factory along Jalan Janakuasa, Kampung Tok Muda, Klang, on Saturday morning.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.18am before dispatching seven firefighters from the Kapar Fire and Rescue Station with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) to the scene.
Upon arrival, the operation commander found that the fire involved a boiler at a steel steaming factory measuring approximately 20 by 20 feet. However, the blaze had already been extinguished by factory workers before firefighters reached the premises.
Further inspection at the site led to the discovery of the victim, who had sustained burns to almost his entire body. Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) later confirmed his death at the scene.
Factory-related fires can pose serious risks to workers, highlighting the importance of strict adherence to workplace safety procedures and regular maintenance of industrial equipment to prevent similar tragedies.
The operation involved seven personnel from the Kapar Fire and Rescue Station, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the relevant authorities.
