Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi believes the people of Negeri Sembilan are eager to see the coalition return to power, saying voters miss the leadership and development delivered under previous BN administrations.
Speaking at the launch of BN’s election machinery and the announcement of its candidates for the Negeri Sembilan state election at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman in Paroi on Wednesday night, Ahmad Zahid praised the achievements of former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, better known as Tok Mat, and earlier BN-led state governments.
He said Negeri Sembilan had been among Malaysia’s most developed states under BN’s leadership and urged party members to respond to what he described as the public’s desire for the coalition to govern again.
“People are longing for BN to return. Repay that trust by working hard and giving them hope,” he told party supporters.
Ahmad Zahid expressed confidence that states governed by BN would continue to lead in terms of development and progress, arguing that the coalition’s track record remains one of its strongest advantages ahead of the election.
He said if BN regains control of the Negeri Sembilan government, it would revive the state’s development agenda and build on the foundations laid by previous administrations.
“We must ensure Negeri Sembilan is once again led by a government that is experienced, credible, trusted by the people and capable of taking the state even further,” he said.
Calling for unity within the coalition, Ahmad Zahid reminded party members that the election was not the time for internal divisions, but for working together to restore BN’s standing.
He also urged all party members and election workers to accept the list of candidates with an open mind, acknowledging that some may be disappointed by the selections.
“I know some are disappointed with Tok Mat, Tok Jalal and even with me. I apologise because we could not fulfil everyone’s expectations. The candidates we have chosen represent BN, and our priority is to ensure BN wins in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
