Sixth Fatality Linked To RXZ Members 8.0 Gathering After Student Dies In LPT2 Crash

The RXZ Members 8.0 gathering has claimed another life after a 21-year-old private university student was killed in a road accident along the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) near Bukit Besi, Dungun, on Sunday.

Dungun district police chief Superintendent Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said the crash occurred at Kilometre 356 of the expressway at about 4.55pm, involving a Mitsubishi Triton and a Yamaha 125ZR motorcycle.

The victim was identified as Arissa Shazzira Zainudin, 21, from Taman Bukit Goh Perdana, Kuantan, Pahang.

Police received a report on the accident from members of the public at about 5.10pm.

Initial investigations found that both vehicles were travelling in the same direction from Kuala Terengganu after attending the RXZ Members 8.0 event.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Triton was heading towards Ampang, Selangor, while the victim was returning to Kuantan, Pahang.

According to police, the four-wheel-drive vehicle had stopped on the emergency lane for a rest when the victim’s motorcycle reportedly approached from behind and crashed into the rear of the vehicle.

The impact threw the motorcyclist onto the roadway, causing severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The latest tragedy brings the death toll linked to the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering to six.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
