Police are tracking down several individuals believed to be involved in an attack on a car following a Malaysia Super League match between Melaka FC and Negeri Sembilan FC at Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong, last night.
Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Halim Abas said the incident occurred at about 10.48pm as a 22-year-old man and his 19-year-old friend were leaving the stadium parking area to return to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
He said the pair were driving a red Toyota Vios when an unidentified man wearing a black shirt and blue jeans allegedly approached from the right side of the road and kicked the vehicle while they were passing the stadium exit.
“The victim was then followed by the suspect, together with several other motorcyclists, before they began damaging the rear section of the car,” he said in a statement today.
Halim said the victim later stopped outside a restaurant in Krubong, where one of the suspects allegedly struck the front of the vehicle with his hand before the driver managed to leave the area.
The suspects are believed to have continued following the victims, with one allegedly using a motorcycle helmet to smash the car’s rear windscreen while they were travelling.
The attack continued when the victim stopped outside a clinic in Krubong, where the group allegedly assaulted him and caused further damage to the vehicle.
The victim eventually managed to escape and lodged a police report.
Halim said the case was being investigated under Sections 506 and 427 of the Penal Code, while police were still working to establish the motive behind the incident and identify all those involved.
