An online seller has pleaded not guilty at the Lower Syariah Court in Kota Bharu to a charge of allegedly posing as a woman by wearing women’s clothing last November.
According to the charge sheet, Khairul Izwan Sidi Ahmad allegedly committed the offence at the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAHEAIK) in Kota Bharu at about 2.35pm on Nov 9, 2025.
He was charged under Section 19(1) of the Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019. If convicted, he faces a fine of up to RM3,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
According to Sinar Harian, Khairul Izwan was allegedly wearing a slim-fit T-shirt, women’s underwear and women’s slippers at the time of the incident.
During the proceedings, Khairul Izwan’s lawyer, Muhammad Syarafi Mohd Salleh, appealed for bail to be reduced to RM500.
Kelantan Syarie Deputy Prosecutor Syafika Mat Husin had proposed bail of RM1,000 with one surety.
“He is an OKU individual, and he is also responsible for paying his family’s monthly electricity bill of more than RM400, which is one of his commitments,” Muhammad Syarafi said.
Syarie Judge Wan Mohd Firdaus W Ibrahim subsequently set bail at RM1,000 with one surety and fixed Dec 1 for mention of the case.
Muhammad Syarafi later told reporters that Khairul Izwan had paid the bail.
