The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for several areas in eight states until 7pm today.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the adverse weather was expected to affect parts of Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak.
In Kedah, the affected areas are Kulim, Bandar Baharu, Baling, Sik and Kuala Muda, while in Perak, the warning covers Kerian, Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Larut Matang, Muallim, Batang Padang, Kampar and Kinta.
In Kelantan, the warning applies to Tumpat, Kota Bharu and Pasir Mas, while in Terengganu, it covers Dungun, Hulu Terengganu and Marang.
“In Pahang, Bentong is expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain, while in Selangor, the affected areas are Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat,” MetMalaysia said.
The same weather conditions are also expected in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, as well as Sarikei, Sibu and Kanowit in Sarawak.
The public has been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during the adverse weather.
