Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced plans to make more than 9,000 contract doctors permanent in 2027 under Budget 2027.
The initiative will offer permanent appointments to over 9,000 contract medical officers, providing greater career stability for doctors working in the public healthcare system.
In addition, doctors who successfully complete their specialist training will be offered permanent positions as medical officers, according to the Budget 2027 materials.
The government will also increase the incentive payment rate for air healthcare services from RM30 to RM100.
The measures form part of the government’s Budget 2027 initiatives to strengthen the healthcare workforce and improve support for medical personnel.
