Six people, including three women, have been arrested over a brawl at a restaurant in Bandar Lahad Datu on Saturday.
The fight, which reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding between two restaurant employees, broke out at around 3pm and was later widely shared on social media.
Lahad Datu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulbaharin Ismail said the disturbance involved between eight and 10 people.
He said the disagreement between the two employees allegedly escalated into a commotion before turning into a physical fight.
Police have opened an investigation under Section 147 of the Penal Code, with six suspects — three men and three women aged between 19 and 38 — arrested so far.
Dzulbaharin said the arrests were made to assist with the investigation, while police were continuing efforts to identify and track down several other individuals believed to have been involved.
He urged the public not to take the law into their own hands.
He also warned against spreading speculation, unverified information or videos related to the incident, saying such actions could cause public concern and disrupt community harmony.
