Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly spending thousands of pounds on cosmetic procedures in an alleged effort to maintain a youthful and powerful public image, according to aesthetic experts.
Speculation surrounding Putin’s appearance has intensified in recent years after critics and medical commentators pointed to noticeable changes in his facial features, including puffier cheeks, smoother skin and reduced wrinkles despite his advancing age.
Cosmetic surgeon Dr Jennifer Owens told British media that the 73-year-old leader appears to show several visible signs linked to both surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures.

According to her analysis, Putin’s under-eye area has changed significantly compared to earlier photographs, where he previously appeared to have more pronounced eye bags and a slimmer facial structure.
She suggested the Russian leader may have undergone procedures such as lower blepharoplasty, commonly used to reduce under-eye bags, as well as Botox injections and facial fillers designed to soften wrinkles and maintain facial fullness.
Dr Owens also claimed Putin’s temples, jawline and cheeks appear fuller and smoother than expected for someone of his age, fuelling speculation over the use of biostimulator injections such as Sculptra.
Biostimulators reportedly help stimulate collagen production over time, gradually creating firmer and more youthful-looking skin.
She estimated that some of the cosmetic procedures allegedly linked to Putin could cost thousands of pounds, especially if repeated regularly to maintain the results.
The claims come amid longstanding rumours surrounding Putin’s health and appearance, which have repeatedly sparked debate both inside and outside Russia.
In recent public appearances, critics have pointed to what they described as a “swollen” or “Botox-like” face during events including Russia’s Victory Day parade in Moscow.
Some commentators also questioned his physical condition after videos circulated online allegedly showing him coughing heavily, appearing unsteady, or struggling during speeches and public meetings.
Rumours regarding possible health issues involving Parkinson’s disease, cancer and other conditions have circulated for years, although none have been officially confirmed by the Kremlin.
The Russian government has consistently denied speculation surrounding Putin’s health or alleged cosmetic surgery procedures.
Putin’s spokesperson previously dismissed such rumours, attributing changes in his appearance to lighting, fatigue and camera angles.
Despite ongoing online speculation, experts note that cosmetic treatments among high-profile political figures are becoming increasingly common globally, particularly procedures aimed at helping public figures appear energetic, healthy and authoritative in front of cameras.
