The retail prices of RON97, unsubsidised RON95 and unsubsidised diesel have each been reduced by 5 sen per litre for the Sept 3 to 9 period.
The Finance Ministry (MOF) said in a statement today that RON97 will now cost RM4.25 per litre, down from RM4.30 previously.
Unsubsidised RON95 has also fallen to RM3.77 per litre from RM3.82, while unsubsidised diesel is now priced at RM4.67 per litre compared with RM4.72 previously.
The ministry said the reduction reflected lower global crude oil prices for most of the period used to calculate the prices under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
However, crude oil prices rose again towards the end of the calculation period amid renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
“Although Brent crude oil prices have moderated from the peak levels seen during the West Asia conflict, the global refined petroleum products market remains tight due to disruptions to petroleum flows through the Strait of Hormuz, reduced refining capacity and fuel export restrictions,” the ministry said.
These factors are expected to continue contributing to price volatility in the near term, MOF added.
China has also begun easing restrictions on refined petroleum product exports introduced in March 2026. However, supplies of some petroleum products to regional markets have yet to fully return to pre-conflict levels, despite exports increasing from July.
The MADANI Government said it would continue protecting Malaysians and businesses from the impact of global uncertainty by maintaining targeted subsidies under BUDI MADANI for eligible recipients.
Under BUDI95, eligible recipients will continue paying RM1.99 per litre for RON95, with the government covering a subsidy of RM1.78 per litre, equivalent to 47 per cent of the unsubsidised price of RM3.77.
For BUDI Diesel, eligible recipients will pay RM2.10 per litre, with the government providing a subsidy of RM2.57 per litre, or 55 per cent of the unsubsidised price of RM4.67.
Meanwhile, petrol under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) remains at RM2.05 per litre, while diesel under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) remains at RM2.15 per litre.
MOF also said the basic monthly eligibility limit for BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel was increased again to 300 litres from Sept 1.
Eligible owners of diesel-powered pickup trucks and jeeps will receive an additional 100 litres, bringing their total monthly eligibility to up to 400 litres.
