10-Year-Old Boy Feared Drowned After Swept Away By River Current

A 10-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after being swept away by strong currents in an incident at Sungai Nilam, Sungai Selisek in Hulu Selangor today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.40pm.

He said a team of five firefighters along with a fire engine from the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire and Rescue Station was immediately deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, rescuers reported that the victim was believed to have been swept away by the river current.

He added that search and rescue (SAR) operations are currently underway at the location.
