Dramatic dashcam footage circulating online shows a man being struck by a lorry while crossing a road in San Tin, reportedly during a red-light phase.
The incident took place along Castle Peak Road – San Tin, near Man Tin Cheung Park. Based on the footage, traffic lights for vehicles were green at the time, while congestion towards Yuen Long had caused several vehicles to stop near a pedestrian crossing, including a red private car that halted just before the crossing line.
A man dressed in black is seen exiting a red minibus before moving behind it and weaving between stationary vehicles. He then runs across the road from left to right, appearing to attempt to cross through moving traffic.
As he enters the lane, a lorry travelling towards Kwu Tung approaches and is unable to stop in time, striking the pedestrian. The impact throws him into the air, after which he reportedly hits his head on the rear wheel area of the nearby red car before falling onto the road. His shoes are also seen flying off during the collision, and he is later seen holding his head in pain.
The lorry driver brakes immediately, preventing further injury, and exits the vehicle to take photographs of the scene. The injured man eventually manages to stand and appears to try moving away from the carriageway. The driver is then seen pulling him towards the side of the road before continuing to document the incident. The red private car involved later leaves as traffic ahead begins to move.
The footage has triggered strong reactions online, with many criticising the pedestrian for allegedly crossing against the traffic signal. Others questioned the actions of the private car driver for leaving the scene, while some expressed concern over the lorry driver’s decision to move the injured man, noting that improper handling could worsen potential injuries.
