A male teacher was arrested by police today to assist in investigations into alleged sexual misconduct involving two students in Besut.
The 42-year-old suspect was reportedly detained at his family home in the district at around 3.25pm following police reports lodged by the two alleged victims.
Authorities are believed to have launched immediate action after the case began gaining attention online, sparking concern among parents and the wider community over student safety in schools.
District police chief Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim confirmed the arrest when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
He added that police will apply for a remand order against the suspect tomorrow to facilitate further investigations.
Earlier, allegations involving the teacher went viral on social media after several claims were publicly exposed by a Facebook influencer, triggering heated discussions among netizens.
