Two Teens Killed, 10 Injured In Texas House Party Shooting

Date:

A late-night house party in Amarillo turned deadly after a shooting left two teenagers dead and at least 10 others injured, with police confirming that two suspects are still at large.

The incident occurred around 2am on Saturday at an apartment complex on South Coulter Street, according to a statement by the Amarillo Police Department.

Authorities said the gathering, attended by juveniles and young adults, had initially started at another location before moving to the apartment complex. Investigators believe a group who had earlier been asked to leave the original venue followed partygoers to the new site.

Police said the suspects allegedly attempted to enter an apartment before opening fire with a rifle-style weapon. Multiple gunshots were captured on nearby security footage, showing chaotic scenes as people ran for cover.

Two victims have been identified as 17-year-old Ezekiel Rudy Almazan and a 16-year-old boy. At least 10 others sustained injuries, including gunshot wounds, during the attack.

Investigators recovered a Glock 9mm handgun near an apartment landing and believe more than one firearm was used, based on shell casings found in an alley close to the scene. The motive for the shooting has not yet been confirmed.

Police said the suspects are currently unidentified, though early findings suggest they were known to individuals at the party and had some form of connection to the location.

Amarillo Police Chief Thomas Hover condemned the attack, calling the violence “unacceptable” and stressing that law enforcement agencies are working together to track down those responsible.

Authorities are now appealing for the public to submit any CCTV, doorbell camera footage or information that may assist the ongoing investigation as the search for the suspects continues.
