A 17-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man were caught by Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAINJ) officers while allegedly preparing to engage in sexual intercourse inside a parked car in Sri Gading.
The couple were discovered at about 11.20pm on Thursday, when enforcement officers approached a vehicle parked in a dimly lit area with its engine running but headlights switched off.
According to JAINJ, the officers knocked on the car window, prompting the vehicle to attempt reversing. However, the driver stopped after realising that an enforcement van had blocked its path.
A man in the front passenger seat then opened the door, revealing that he was wearing only a T-shirt and no trousers.
Further checks by a female enforcement officer uncovered a woman in the back seat who was topless, with her clothes and underwear found on the seat, JAINJ said in a statement.
Both individuals were instructed to get dressed before further checks were carried out.
Questioning revealed that the man was single and worked in Batu Pahat, while the girl was still studying. Both admitted that they were not married to each other.
The man had reportedly picked up the teenager before the pair drove around looking for a suitable location to engage in the alleged act.
JAINJ said both were arrested and would be charged under Section 24 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 1997, which concerns preparations to commit illicit intercourse.
