A man sustained injuries after falling from a height of about 30 metres while bathing at Buntong Waterfall near Menglembu on Saturday.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call at 11.15am before a team from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Station was deployed to the scene.
He said rescuers had to travel on foot and climb through a hilly route to reach the victim, who was located about one kilometre from the main area of the waterfall.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the 38-year-old man suffering from head injuries and body wounds after he was believed to have slipped and fallen onto rocks while at the waterfall.
Sabarodzi said the incident happened when the victim was enjoying a bathing activity with a female friend at the location.
He added that medical personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) were already at the scene and provided initial treatment to the victim before the arrival of the rescue team.
The rescue operation involved seven firefighters and two MOH personnel, who stabilised the injured man before carrying him out using a stretcher through the challenging hilly terrain.
The victim was later handed over to MOH personnel and transported to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for further treatment.
The operation was completed at 1.36pm after all rescue efforts were concluded successfully.
