Teacher Reportedly Punched By Group Of Students After Cutting Student’s Hair

Date:

A discipline teacher was reportedly injured after being punched by a group of students at a secondary school in Kuala Kangsar on Wednesday.

The incident, which allegedly occurred at about 11.30am, is believed to have been triggered by dissatisfaction among the students after the male teacher cut the hair of one of those involved.

Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairuddin Abu Hanipah said authorities are currently awaiting a detailed report from the Perak State Education Department (JPN) before issuing any official statement on the matter.

“I have yet to receive verified information and am still waiting for a report from JPN regarding the incident. Further checks are being carried out to determine the accuracy of the claims before any official statement is issued,” he said.

Khairuddin added that if the incident is confirmed, such behaviour would be unacceptable as teachers play an important role in educating and guiding students.

“If it is true, this is an inappropriate action because teachers are educators who nurture and guide our children,” he said.

He made the remarks after officiating the Gen Alpha Hajj Simulation Excellence Programme for Community Development Department (KEMAS) preschool children at Masjid Sultan Yusuff Izzudin Shah in Kuala Kangsar on Thursday.

The alleged assault has sparked concern among the public, particularly regarding the safety of educators and discipline issues in schools.

Authorities have not yet released details on the extent of the teacher’s injuries or whether police reports have been lodged in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, Khairuddin also spoke about the Hajj simulation programme, which involved approximately 400 children from 30 KEMAS preschools across the Perak Tengah district.

The one-day programme, organised in collaboration with Andalusia Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, aimed to introduce young children to the fundamentals of the fifth pillar of Islam, the pilgrimage to Mecca.

He said the initiative was designed to instil religious values from an early age while encouraging children to aspire towards performing the Hajj in the future if they are financially and physically able to do so.

Investigations into the alleged school incident are ongoing, with education authorities expected to provide further clarification once their findings are completed.
