Three Nabbed Over Alleged Assault Of Woman In Parking Fee Dispute

Three men have been arrested over the alleged assault of a woman who confronted them for collecting parking fees without authorisation at Jalan Awan Besar, Jalan Klang Lama.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 26, were detained around the Brickfields district after the 38-year-old local woman lodged a police report claiming she had been assaulted and threatened near an open land area close to the OUG Community Hall.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil said police received the woman’s report at about 2.38pm on Aug 15 after she raised concerns about the group collecting parking fees at the location without permission from the relevant land authorities.

According to him, the woman was allegedly verbally abused by the suspects before one of them punched her in the head.

“She was also threatened with further violence, with the suspects allegedly warning that they would cause trouble at her workplace,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.

The first suspect was remanded for three days from Aug 16 to 18, while the other two suspects were each remanded for one day to assist investigations.

Police urged members of the public to report information involving criminal activities to the Brickfields police hotline at 03-2297 9222, Kuala Lumpur police hotline at 03-2115 9999, or the nearest police station.
