Johor MB Dismisses Rumours Of Immediate State Assembly Dissolution

Date:

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has firmly denied speculation that the Johor State Legislative Assembly would be dissolved today, urging all elected representatives to continue focusing on serving the people.

Speaking during the winding-up session of the state assembly at Bangunan Sultan Ismail, he reassured that there would be no immediate dissolution of the assembly.

He also called on assemblymen to set aside election-related discussions for now, stressing that public service should remain the top priority.

“I would like to announce that the Johor State Legislative Assembly will not be dissolved today, so everyone can relax. Do not worry about the state election,” he said.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi added that all representatives should continue carrying out their duties for the people of Johor and maintain focus on ongoing development programmes and initiatives.

He noted that political discussions had intensified recently, with some suggesting that the current sitting could be the final one before a state election.

The Menteri Besar also acknowledged the rising political temperature, which he said had led to noticeable shifts in behaviour among some assembly members during debates.

“I see some differences in this sitting, perhaps because the political atmosphere is heating up. Some think this may be the last sitting, while others are already reacting accordingly,” he said.

He reiterated that, for now, governance and public welfare must take precedence over electoral speculation.

Talk of a possible state election in Johor has been circulating in recent weeks, with various political figures making statements and some parties reportedly beginning early preparations to identify potential constituencies.
