Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has encouraged young Malaysians to boldly explore the digital economy and future technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to remain competitive in an increasingly challenging global landscape.

Speaking at the Semarak Belia @ National Youth Day (SB @ HBN) 2026 programme for the Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak areas, Wan Azizah said mastery of innovation and technology is crucial for the younger generation to adapt to changes in the modern job market.

“The youth of today must be brave to step forward in areas such as the digital economy, entrepreneurship, social innovation, community leadership and future technologies,” she said.

She stressed that Malaysia needs a generation equipped not only with knowledge and technical skills, but also strong moral values, integrity and patriotism.

Also present at the event were Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Youth and Sports Department director Sabran Abdil Bahar and the Prime Minister’s political secretary Azman Abidin.

Wan Azizah, who is also the wife of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, said Malaysian youths have shown resilience and creativity despite facing challenges such as rising living costs and mental health issues.

She added that the government remains committed to youth development through initiatives focused on entrepreneurship, leadership and community empowerment to nurture a progressive younger generation.

“Use your energy, ideas and potential to bring benefits to religion, race and country,” she said while referencing a hadith of Prophet Muhammad on valuing youth before old age.

Wan Azizah also expressed hope that young Malaysians would become agents of unity, maturity and integrity in shaping the future of Malaysia MADANI.

The SB @ HBN 2026 programme involved around 500 participants and aimed to provide a platform for youths to strengthen leadership skills and build strategic networks within local communities.
