PN Mandate Reflects People’s Call For Justice And Well-Being, Says Hadi

Date:

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the mandate given to Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election reflects the people’s support for efforts to strengthen unity, justice and well-being in the country’s multiracial society.

He said PAS acknowledged the significant responsibility and trust placed on the coalition by voters following the election outcome.

“Our priority is to uphold this victory by focusing on an agenda centred on welfare, integrity and justice for everyone,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Hadi also expressed his appreciation to PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership, as well as candidates, party members and campaign teams involved in ensuring the success of the cooperation between both coalitions.

Based on unofficial results, PN secured seven of the 11 seats it contested, while BN won 18 out of the 25 seats contested. The results allowed the two coalitions to form the new Negeri Sembilan state government.

A total of 36 state seats were contested, with Pakatan Harapan (PH) fielding candidates in all constituencies, while BN contested 25 seats and Bersatu contested 24 seats. PN contested 11 seats, alongside candidates from Berjasa, ASLI, Parti Sosialis Malaysia and four independent candidates.

In the previous state election, PH won 17 seats while BN secured 14 seats, allowing both parties to form the state government, while PN obtained five seats.

The latest election was held after Negeri Sembilan BN withdrew its support for Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun on April 27, resulting in the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on June 5 and paving the way for the state polls.
