A total of 213,878 out of 2,682,642 eligible voters in Johor have cast their votes in the 16th Johor State Election (PRN) so far.
The figure represents a 7.97 per cent voter turnout, which is higher compared with the 6.35 per cent turnout recorded during the previous Johor state election in 2022 at the same stage.
Data released by the Election Commission (EC) showed that the N29 Mahkota state seat recorded the highest voter turnout with 15.8 per cent, followed by N39 Tanjung Surat at 14.7 per cent and N35 Pasir Raja at 13.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, the lowest turnout rates after the first hour of voting were recorded in N12 Bentayan and N13 Simpang Jeram, both at 7.7 per cent, while N56 Kukup registered 7.6 per cent.
The Johor state election this time involves 172 candidates from eight political groups, including independent candidates, competing for all 56 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.
The election was held following the dissolution of the 15th Johor State Legislative Assembly on June 1, paving the way for voters across the state to decide their representatives for the next term.
