Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo continues to maintain exceptional fitness well into his 40s, with his former personal chef revealing that his peak physical condition is the result of an extremely disciplined and carefully controlled diet rather than genetics alone.
Giorgio Barone, who previously worked closely with Ronaldo, shared insights into the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s eating habits, including a strong avoidance of cow’s milk and dairy products. According to him, Ronaldo believes that adult milk consumption goes against natural biological patterns and prefers non-dairy alternatives.
“After a certain age, no animal continues drinking milk. Even calves stop after a few months,” Barone was quoted as saying in an interview, explaining Ronaldo’s personal philosophy on nutrition.
He added that Ronaldo’s diet is heavily structured around clean eating, focusing on lean proteins, healthy fats, and eliminating refined sugar entirely. Every meal is designed to maximise performance and recovery while avoiding heavily processed foods.
For breakfast, Ronaldo typically consumes eggs, avocado, and coffee without sugar. Lunch usually consists of chicken or fish paired with vegetables, while carbohydrates are sourced mainly from vegetables rather than bread or pasta. Dinner is kept light, often including grilled fish or lean meat with fresh vegetables.
Barone also noted that while Ronaldo holds firm views on dairy, he shares some dietary similarities with other elite athletes, including Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, particularly in the consumption of nutrient-dense “superfoods.”
Interestingly, Ronaldo is said to favour organ meats such as liver, which are rich in iron and essential nutrients. Barone described these as highly beneficial for athletes, reinforcing that such foods play a key role in elite-level performance diets.
The revelations highlight how precision nutrition, strict discipline, and long-term consistency continue to play a crucial role in extending Ronaldo’s dominance at the highest level of football.
