DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has responded sharply to Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s claim that his state administration was excluded from several Transport Ministry events over the past three years.
In a pointed remark directed at the Johor Umno leader, Loke, who is also Transport Minister, said he wanted to “refresh Onn Hafiz’s memory” by highlighting multiple occasions where the state leadership had in fact been present.
He cited events such as those linked to the RTS Link project, the launch of the electric train service to Johor Bahru, and the opening of the new Kluang KTM station as examples involving state participation.
Loke also said there were instances where the Johor government had sent representatives instead, and even at least one event where invitations were extended but no state representative attended.
“I understand it gets busy during election season, so there are things that might have been forgotten,” the Seremban MP said in a sarcastic Facebook post.
He further extended an invitation to Onn Hafiz for the upcoming launch of the KTM Komuter Selatan service in Kulai, adding that the menteri besar would also be invited to deliver a speech.
The exchange follows earlier remarks by Onn Hafiz, who said he would prefer to step down rather than work closely with DAP in the state government.
Loke later countered by noting his working relationship with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the federal level, stressing that cooperation between parties already exists in Cabinet.
Tensions between the two leaders escalated after Onn Hafiz claimed his administration had not been invited to several ministry events between 2023 and 2025, despite official programmes being held in Johor.
