Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to focus on the nation’s future by embracing artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and foreign investments, rather than becoming distracted by political disputes and racial divisions.
Speaking at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Grand Rally “Justice for the People of Johor”, Anwar said Malaysia must prioritise innovation and economic growth if it hopes to remain competitive on the global stage and secure a brighter future for the next generation.
The Prime Minister highlighted ongoing government efforts to attract investments in AI technology, data centres and other high-value industries, while also exploring opportunities in quantum computing following his recent visit to Japan.
According to Anwar, these initiatives are crucial in positioning Malaysia as a leading regional hub for advanced technologies and future-driven industries.
“Our children’s future lies in AI and quantum technology. That is what we should be working towards,” he said.
He questioned the value of endless political arguments centred on race, religion and communal issues, warning that such disputes could distract the nation from more pressing challenges.
“If politics is only about constant fighting over race, religion, temples and mosques, when will we focus on building the country?” he asked.
Anwar stressed that Malaysia has the potential to become a highly developed and respected nation if its people unite and focus on progress rather than division.
He urged Malaysians from all backgrounds to work together in strengthening the country’s economy, attracting investments and creating opportunities for future generations.
“Rise up, Malaysians — Malays, Chinese, Indians — work together, build this nation and elevate Malaysia into a great country. We can achieve it,” he said.
The Prime Minister also pointed to growing international confidence in Malaysia, claiming that investors are increasingly choosing the country as a destination for business and technology investments.
“We do not even need to campaign. Investors are coming to Malaysia because they see the opportunities here,” he added.
Also present at the event were PKR Vice-President Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.
Meanwhile, Anwar reminded political leaders across the spectrum to focus on policies and ideas that benefit the people rather than exploiting hatred and division for political gain.
He said effective leadership requires understanding the real concerns of the rakyat and developing solutions that improve lives, rather than inflaming tensions between communities.
“Think about what is best for the future of our country. Do not exploit hatred towards others. Listen to the people’s problems and work towards solving them,” he said.
Anwar reiterated that national unity, technological advancement and economic development must remain at the centre of Malaysia’s long-term agenda if the country is to thrive in an increasingly competitive global environment.
