A man’s attempt to reprimand another individual for smoking at a nasi kandar restaurant in Bandar Rimbayu, Telok Panglima Garang, is believed to have triggered a physical altercation on Wednesday.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, said authorities received a report regarding the incident at approximately 2.07am from a local man. The situation has since drawn attention to public conduct in shared dining spaces.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a misunderstanding arose between two parties after one individual was confronted for smoking in the area. Such incidents highlight the ongoing tension surrounding smoking etiquette in public premises.
“The situation escalated into a fight when both parties began assaulting each other,” he said in a statement on Sunday, adding that the confrontation quickly turned physical.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for affray. Police have urged members of the public with information to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the nearest police station or the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters operations room.
